If you have FIOS Digital Voice you do have what is considered to be a land line. That means the phone signals you use to talk using the Verizon service ravel through the twisted pair copper phone wires in your house. A voip connection comes in as an IP signal and as such your local software for the service will connect via a router connection.
As long as the ONT is turned on and active, you can probably call VZ and ask them to push it through since you have equipment. You'll be on the hook for connecting up either Coax or Ethernet to your ONT though. And then H.248, or Megaco, and MGCP run on ports 2427 and 2944.
What if I don’t install my services before or on the due date?
I just purchased a Polycom SoundPont IP 321 phone. The process is confusing and each time I attempt to enter config, I continuiously receive the 'Network Link is Down' message on my phone. Order online and we'll waive the $99 setup charge. If you’re unsure if your new location is in a Verizon service area, check availability. If you’re moving within a Verizon local service area, you may be able to keep your current phone number.
Digital Voice International allows consumers to call up to 120 different countries at a low rate. International plans come with two options on a per month basis. With the World Plan 500, you can add up to 500 minutes to your plan to cover international calls. Or try the World Plan 300 and add up to 300 extra international minutes.
How do I setup FiOS to work with my VOIP phone?
I can't see why that would be the case though. You also need to configure ports to be open in the new router. I don't have a LL; I have FiOS Digital Voice. I've got this phone connected to my router. My guess is, either I need to make some config changes in my router, and/or the phone itself.
While unlikely, this spark could trigger an explosion if gas is present. Yes, you may be able to activate your service early. Billing will begin once your equipment is activated.
Verizon Fios Self-Installation
If you have a home alarm system connected to your Verizon phone service, be sure to register your new home phone number. In most cases you can take your existing equipment with you. You would take your router, set-top boxes, remote and any wiring. A "enterprise" class phone usually isn't connected through a NAT router. You may need to do some digging in the phone's manual to determine how to configure it to operate in a home network environment. Gone are the days of switchboards and party lines where nosy neighbors named Gladys can listen in on your conversations.
With Verizon, the world just got a bit smaller. I ordered FIOS Internet on 9/17 (I don't watch TV, nor do I need a home phone) and they said that the soonest appt. Time for a tech to come out and "install" was on the 26th. I was willing to wait because the router I'm renting hadn't shown up yet.
Get higher speeds, better HD entertainment, and crystal clear calls all on a 100% fiber-optic network. Life is confusing enough, make your home necessities a breeze with a Verizon Fios Plan. What's more important is how those signals get on the phone wires.
1 is becuase you want only one set of phone signals coming to the ONT. The ONT simply can't handle 2 competing inputs of the same type. As long as the ONT is doing this no other phone signals can get past/through the ONT. That's why you get those nasty messages from your personal VOIP unit - the ONT has no idea what to do with those signals. The standard FiOS Actiontec router doesn't do anything different than most consumer NAT routers.
If you phone only does VOIP then you need a regular phone. It can be a hassle to change your number, but with Verizon home phone services you won't have to. Maintain the same number when you add a Fios Digital Voice line to your package and enjoy crystal clear service with HD quality. No problem, our Tech Support Agents are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
It may be that you will have to disconnect your phone wiring from the ONT box, especially if you want to keep your existing phone number. When the TV goes out, you call the cable company. Got a question about your internet service? You’re back on the phone with a different company. Wouldn’t it be great if you could get all your services, at one low price, from one company? Now you can with a Verizon home phone plan with TV and internet.
You can also visit the equipment pages for complete information, user guides and step-by-step help in setting up your equipment. Physically disconnect your home's phone wires from the ONT box. In the past, our rotary phones had no way of warning us who was on the other end of the line.
You might want to check with the phone hardware provider and/or VoIP service provider if your particular setup can function behind a NAT router. At the home it does not go thru the router. You need to plug your phone into a regular phone jack at the home.
